Today is a long 6-hour drive to our park in New Orleans! Listening to podcasts and chatting on our way. We started listening to Serial. This is Deven’s first listen and my 3rd so I’m enjoying hearing his theories and about whodunit. If you haven’t heard Serial yet I have nothing more to say to you. The weather got increasingly warmer and we were delighted to see a forecast of 70 degrees. We pulled into Jude Travel Park of New Orleans at 6pm. The owners were incredibly nice and helped us back into our space. The park was small park and very full but the people are friendly. It was…

Day 5 – Feb 10th – New Orleans
Hello French Quarter!! What a long awaited and exciting day for us going out and do things! Today was my first Outfit of the Day! I thought it appropriate to wear my harlequin print skirt. Our RV park shuttled us into the French Quarter around noon. We walked down so many different streets and looked at so many funky shops. Deven, who is a genius, packed a backpack full of ice and beer to drink all day. We walked down burbon street which was very crazy busy but had a fun drunken energy. I was won over by a very expensive strawberry and peach Daquri. We stopped for lunch at…

Day 2 – February 8th – VA –> Alabama
Today we felt like real RV-ers! Our rig had been winterized by RV dealership and it was time to de-winterized and get all the tanks clear and ready to use! To store our RV through the winter and in below freezing temperatures you have to fill the water line with a non-toxic pink antifreeze solution. It’s a very smart thing to do but it means you can’t use any water until to clear it all out. RV parks have bath houses available to use as an alternative but we were excited to be able to use our RV shower and use our toilet at long last! It was nice to…

Day 1- February 7th – Roanoke, VA
Waking up to a cold rainy miserable day seemed to make sense with how we felt. One of the major reasons we wanted to stop through Roanoke is because Deven grew up there. He has been longing to give me a tour of his town, visit old friends, visit family, and relive the nostalgia of 1985-2003. Though we didn’t feel up to visiting with anyone we thought it may be nice to drive around a little. We had a late lunch at Macados. Deven’s mom used to work for the owner and Deven remembered eating here many times. It’s a 90s vibe write-your-name-on-the-wall type sandwich joint. Cluttered with infinite bizarre…

February 6th – Trage-Day
“To go forward, you must leave something behind.” —————————————————————————————————————– We left Richmond at 9 pm already a day late from our aimed departure date. We were excited to finally hit the road but were overwhelmingly exhausted and stressed from moving. We left behind a few boxes and furniture so even as we turned out the lights and locked up it didn’t quite feel like we were finished. We could have easily spent another week cleaning and saying goodbye to friends. Our RV was a row of packed boxes waiting to be sorted. We debated staying another night but the apartment was too empty, the rv was too packed, and that…
